Dovetail stands for making good design happen in the form of well-made products that are desirable, affordable, and usable, participating in the evolution of design as a collaborator and business partner.

In 1994 Dovetail Furniture Private Limited was established by the same founders along with two others – Jacob and Anand - to design, build and deliver retail fixtures . In 2007 both companies were formally merged with an investment by Erasmic Venture Fund, now a part of Accel Partners. Dovetail stands for making good design happen in the form of well-made products that are desirable, affordable, and usable - participating in the evolution of design as a collaborator and business partner. Design development, prototyping, manufacture, pan India delivery and installation form a seamless service that we offer to our customers who value quality and reliability.

1984 - 1990

Company established by industrial designers from NID to make furniture

India’s first modular shopfitting system for a casual-wear brand – Weekender – that can set up a store in 24 hours.

1991 - 2000

Complete furniture program for a school – Mallya Aditi – from classrooms to labs, libraries, offices and playground.

New company is set up to manufacture shopfit.

Selected as Levis’ sole partner to indigenise and produce their custom designed shopfit to global specs for all their stores in India.

Pantaloon launches their first large format store with modular fixtures by Dovetail: 25 stores follow.

National Centre for Biological Sciences furniture program for their labs, lecture halls, resource centre, and housing.

Asian Paints modular shop-in-shop design and roll-out for over 1000 locations.

The Design Store launched – a retail destination for home furniture and accessories.

2001 - 2010

The new plant is set up in Bommasandra for metal and wood working.

Start of a long relationship as Future Group’s preferred vendor for Big Bazaar, Brand Factory, Home Town.

Both companies merged.

New studio and warehouse block constructed.

The Design Store is launched at all Home Stop outlets.

School furniture business becomes a separate vertical.

2011 - 2018

We acquire MNC clients – Calvin Klein Jeans, Puma, Nike, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, The Children’s Place, Skechers.

We acquire national large format clients – Megamart, Unlimited, Saravana Stores, Metro, Shoppers Stop.

Solid wood furniture supply becomes a business vertical.

We undertake large school and institutional furniture projects for IIIT, IIM-B, NCBS, Shiv Nadar Schools, MVJ College.

Experience Centre is launched in our facility.

We add laser cutting and powder coating plant and machinery.
